OOC kills me, I can't stand reading something where a character is so completely against the personality I fell in love with in the first place that they are practically different people with the same name. Some fanfic authors are just FAIL in that respect.

Zaraki/Unohana is on my CRAcK OTP list. I love them just because it is so strange. And the fact that Unohana is probably scarier than Kenpachi in her own way makes it so much better.

Srsly, I mean I feel like shaking said author and being WHY!?~ B/c just b/c it's fanfiction doesn't mean I want to see your OOC-laden crap. If you want to give a different story, that's fine. But keep the character THAT CHARACTER. That's why I tend to have no faith in HS AU's. B/c they are nearly ALL ooc to some horrible level. Not always, but nearly always so.

HS AUs are FAIL in a basket. First off, no one liked high school the first time around, so why would you torture your favorite characters by putting them there, and secondly FIND A WAY TO GIVE THEM SIMILAR EXPERIANCES SO THEY ACT THE FUCKING SAME!!! It's not as hard as people make it out to be, and they all fail so badly.

The only good AU I can even think of was that SasuNaru Roommates one I showed you.

We should so make that guid, possibly in the form of an LJ comm so people can contribute, and ask questions.

Totally. It really isn't. I mean hell, I put part of the Bleach cast through prom in Reason Enough, and it wasn't as though it was that hard to do so and NOT do this whole HS AU crap. And for Ichigo and the gang, they're ALREADY in HS, so it's not as though I had to go all AU and shit to go "hmm, it would be amusing for Rukia to have to learn what this "prom" thing is that Ichigo seems so damned intent on avoiding".

Yeah, Bleach, or any fandom where the HS bit is canon seems to fail ten times as much. People are just stupid. But your prom thing = win. Some people don't seem to get that characters are liked for more than their strange clothes or hairstyles, but they way they act.

I can't get to ff.net from school, but it's roommates and the author is fastforward. I'll look it up aftershcool for you <3

Glad to know my prom thing = win. I personally thought it did, but then I'm biased. XD. It DID amuse me that my fic spawned a multitude of requests in Poly for a HS-AU curseday b/c a couple of my beta readers are pals I met through Poly.

We should make a list of things to include in the comm. Like the def. of a Mary-Sue/hoe to avoid one, important terms to remember, the diff. between character development and OOCness, etc.

Alright, I'll work on that in a bit, get things set up.

Yeah, tha's probably a good place to start. What we can do is set up each "section" as it's own post, then in the first post put a menubar of sorts, with links to each section. That way we'll have a basic "go-to" list for specific topics. Then we can always add more if need be. And people won't have to wade through this obsessively long post to get the portion that they need.

Start me a term list?
Obviously OTP, pairing, Mary-Sue, AU, ship, OOC, drabble, oneshot, rating/warning, lemon, lime, yaoi, yuri, mpreg, X-over. Anything else you'd like to add, my dear?

So far for "topics", I've got the following:

Okay, I'll get started in my next class since I won't have a computer to distract me. Right now I can't come up with anything off the top of my head. Oh drabble should be on that list, so people know the difference between a full blown fic a ficlet and drabble.

Those are all good topics too, a great start, we can always add more as we think of them.
